From there we did make the decision to let her pass peacefully before she declined into a worse state. The day we brought her in we were excellent cared for, seen, and loved through the extremely difficult experience. She even let us know they would sit with her after we left knowing it would be hard to leave her there after she had passed. We decided to cremate her and when we got her package back there was a plaster of her paw and hair of her. It was very kind, beautiful, and wonderful way to honor her. They also had a personally signed card with notes from the staff. For such a horrible time in our lives, they made us feel very loved and that she was captured and cared for. Dr Mey with the assistance of Justine tried to help her but she became too overcome with infection and then developed heart enlargement and complications. . We ultimately had to euthanize her within 2 weeks from the day she became mildly sick with a respiratory viral infection. She was not yet 2 yrs old. She was a totally indoor cat and we think an underlying virus she once had like feline herpes virus while in a nasty humane society downstate as a kitten who then was saved by SAFE in Clare County by a wonderful woman Connie who fostered her. I ultimately adopted her at 9 months old and she had a great life with us for 12 months until her untimely death. Dr Mey and Justine did all they could and I must mention Dr Foster who took his time to fill me in on her chest xray results while Dr Mey was busy in surgery. Our dogs have always been well taken care of at their clinic. Last year our dog was in an emergency situation after a car accident and we rushed him over. We called along the way there and we were met at the door. After a quick check over, our dog was rushed into surgery to prevent him from bleeding out from a ruptured spleen. He also had a dislocated hip and cracked pelvis. He was hospitalized for a week. During this time he received excellent care and became attached to all the staff and especially Dr. LaCrosse. Dr. LaCrosse stayed with him until 10 pm after his surgery to make sure that he was stabilized. If they had not been there for us our dog would have died. We shall always appreciate their love and care for him. It took him almost 3 months to learn to walk again and get his energy back but he is now living a healthy and happy life.
