Veterinarian

After spending her formative years making ‘bug hospitals’ on beautiful Torch Lake, it seems fitting that Lisa would return to Northern Michigan to continue her veterinary career. Originally from Adrian, Michigan, Lisa has been practicing small animal and equine medicine in Vermont since graduating from MSU in 2005. Her professional interests include geriatric medicine, end-of-life care, acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Dr. Hickman became licensed in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) from Chi University in 2023.

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys horses, playing ice hockey, hiking and skiing. She and her husband, have two sons. They share their busy home with two dogs and two cats. Lisa is thrilled to be in Traverse City, and while waterlogged insects are a thing of the past she is looking forward to meeting and caring for the patients at Long Lake Animal Hospital.
