Dr. Zimmerman is a licensed physical therapist, CCRT (certified canine rehabilitation therapist), and animal lover. She initially began her movement career working as a pilates instructor to include owning her own studio in 2008. Her desire to gain more knowledge grew resulting in pursuing a physical therapy degree. She completed her doctorate degree in physical therapy from CMU in 2019 and has a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University. After graduation she began working in outpatient pediatriacs treating patients with gross motor delays, orthopedic and neurological conditions. While she enjoyed working with children, her desire to work with animals heightened when one of her own dogs developed a lameness followed by an elbow dysplasia diagnosis. Seeking rehabilitation techniques to improve his mobility she began the journey of becoming a CCRT with CRI (canine rehabilitation institute) in Coral Springs FL. Since completing her certification in July 2022, she has been excited to finally combine her compassion for animals with her knowledge as a physical therapist. Areas of interest include canine arthritis, CCL injuries, and hip/elbow dysplasia. When not working, Dr. Zimmerman enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, taking road trips with her two Doodles, hiking, hot yoga, and volunteering at the humane society.
